Design living room and nursery in the same room - examples of the interior

The appearance of the child in the family is not only joy, but also additional concerns. This is especially felt by families, whose living space does not allow to allocate a separate room for the baby. To organize a child's space for recreation, games and study, you can divide the room into two zones and develop the design of the living room and nursery in the same room.
Such design techniques are appropriate in new construction with a free layout, where initially only supporting structures are present. And in the apartments of a small area, you can immediately plan the sleeping and workplace of the child in the same room as the living room.

Possible zoning options

Before embarking on zoning a room into a living room and a nursery, consider expanding it with adjoining rooms — a balcony, pantry, etc. The use of “hidden reserves” can have an effect when creating children's and adult zones in one room.
Determining what part will be allotted to the nursery, it is better to give up the space by the window to the child. After all, the emerging young body requires good lighting, clean air. Near the window you can place a cot or work area.
To form full-fledged zones for parallel spending of time by adults and children, there are two different approaches to planning:

  • physical
  • visual.

In the first case, real allocation of zones is carried out with the help of newly erected partitions, furniture and other physical “barriers”.

An ideal room for physical zoning would be a room with two or more windows along one or two walls. In this case, each of the zones will have a source of natural light.

In case of visual zoning, design techniques are used - highlighting by style, color, lighting, and ceiling-wall structures.

Physical zoning

If the area of the room allows, it is better to physically separate the nursery and adult zones. This will give the opportunity to feel the child master of their space, and guests will not interfere with it.

Partition design

The function of the partition can be performed as a full-fledged stationary structure made of foam (gas) concrete, glass blocks, and assembled from drywall, plywood, chipboard, wood, plastic.
If there is no window in one of the fenced off parts, then the partition should be performed with glass inserts so that natural light can flow in there.

A good solution can be a combined design. The lower part will be deaf, and the upper part will be made of a transparent material (glass, plastic) or made in the form of bookshelves that are partially filled. Instead of books on the shelves you can arrange pots of flowers. And if you pick climbing plants with small leaves, then through such shelves will not only penetrate the light, but also partly filtered air.

Given that children in their games can lose control of themselves, all glass inserts should be made of reinforced glass. This will save households and guests from injury.

How to close the doorway

The door to the fenced part is not necessary to make a swing. Given that in both rooms there will certainly be a shortage of space, it is better to block the opening with a sliding door or a folding "accordion". This approach will save square meters, the lack of which will be felt in a small room.
If a nursery is being designed for a small child, then the door design should be convenient for the child to use. The easiest way to close the opening will be a curtain. Fabric for it can be chosen to match the overall design of the room. To make the curtain fit into the design of the living room and the nursery, it can be made two-sided by combining two pieces with different colors. True, at least one of the pieces must be made of dense heavy fabric, so that the drawings do not show through and overlap one another.

Visual zoning

If when designing a living room and a nursery in the same room, a partition or an area does not allow for space or other reasons, zoning can be performed visually by applying the effects known to the novice designer.

Furniture zoning

Furniture is considered to be the simplest tool for effective room zoning. The main advantage of this approach is the absence of the need for repairs. In addition, the border can be shifted in any direction. Installing the cabinet under the ceiling in this case is not required. It can be a rack for books, plants or trinkets, a small children's wardrobe, a cabinet with an aquarium.

For conditional demarcation of the interior of the living room and children's designers suggest using a sofa, which can be used for family watching movies.
A rack with walk-through shelves on which children's books are arranged on one side and adult family members on the other is considered a good tool for separating the living area from the nursery. At the same time, either the height of the shelves must be greater than the format of the books, or the shelves must be partially filled. This is done so that the light from the window penetrates into the living room.

Wall and ceiling structures

To create the illusion of two rooms in one, you can use decorative designs on the ceiling and walls. More often for these purposes they use structures made of plasterboard. The most elementary option is the arched opening. But it should be done with the maximum radius and minimum of the "stolen" space. After all, the task of such an arch is symbolically divided into two zones.
The complexity of the construction of drywall is limited only by the imagination of the author. Therefore, the arch is not the only zoning option. From it you can, for example, make a decorative shelving.
Also as a ceiling element in the interior can be used a wooden beam. It not only visually divides the space into zones, but also becomes the basis for the eaves of a curtain or a screen separating the nursery and the living room.

Color Zoning

To emphasize the border between two functionally different zones, you can use color design. Thus it is necessary to take into account a number of features:

  • degree of illumination;
  • dimensions;
  • general design idea.

If the room is small, the illumination is weak and the window faces north, then dark colors will have to be abandoned. This is especially true of the children's part.
In general, for children's areas, designers recommend planning bright, calm tones from the “warm” part of the spectrum:

  • peach;
  • yellow;
  • light orange;
  • pastel;
  • salad dressing

Carefully it is necessary to treat bright "exciting" colors - red, orange. This can adversely affect the child’s nervous system. If you do not pay enough attention to this nuance, the child will be difficult to concentrate on the educational material, to remember it.
The "adult" part of the room can be framed in a darker palette. And to revive it, to expand the visual boundaries, you can use the mirror surface in the door of a large wardrobe.

Podium as a zoning tool

An unusual but effective and functional tool for zoning the children's part in a room is the construction of a podium. It is usually assembled on a wooden or perforated metal frame made of laminated chipboard, OSB.

On the edge of the podium, a small fence should be provided to help prevent a child from falling and injuring.

Installation of the catwalk can be beaten using the game legend, making it appropriately. For example, for a girl to make a castle where the fairy-tale princess lives. And for a boy, you can arrange it as a pirate ship. All these ideas will be enthusiastically received by small family members.

Installation of the podium will provide an opportunity not only to allocate a separate area for the child, but to save such precious square meters. Indeed, under this platform you can place drawers for storing things or a retractable bed. During the day, these furniture items will be “disguised”, and in the evening they can be put forward for use.
So there are plenty of ideas on how to arrange two different areas in a combined room, like a living room and a nursery with a sleeping, working and play space. And opportunities are limited to the imagination of the designer and the financial capabilities of customers. And the results will delight both children and adults.
