False fireplaces in the interior of the living room can be an interesting element of decor, and they can fill the room with cozy warmth in those seasons when it is cold outside or the central heating is off.
This solution is often used in cottages, private houses and especially in standard city apartments where it is impossible to build a full-fledged fireplace with wood heating due to the lack of a chimney. This fireplace perfectly copes with both functions assigned to it - decoration and heating of your home.
The place of false-fireplaces in the interior is determined by you. They can be placed in the center of the wall, in the corner of the room, or even hung from the ceiling.
What room decorates the fireplace, depends on the preferences of the owner. It will be appropriate in the study, in the bedroom and in the kitchen, especially if it is large. But the most familiar place for a fireplace is, of course, the living room, where the whole family can get together.
Types of false fireplaces
False fireplaces in the living room interior can be divided into three groups:
- imitation with a high degree of reliability;
- imitation, having a certain degree of conditionality;
- fireplace symbol.
The first group includes built from drywall or even brick lined niches with a portal. It can be decorated using various finishing materials.
In such a fireplace you can insert a heater with an imitation of real fire. The depth of the niche is not less than 40 cm. As the decorative elements for making such false-fireplaces in the interior, real logs, stones, and sometimes even coals are used.
One of the variants of reliable imitation is biofireplace. They work on bio-fuel, usually dry alcohol, and give real fire and heat. True, such a fire looks different than wood.
The second group includes imitations of the fireplace. They also have a niche, but its depth does not exceed 20 cm. The niche itself is decorated with an “ordinary” fireplace, and the hole intended in a real fireplace for a firebox is used in accordance with its own preferences.
There you can put candles, beautiful installations or even fold a stack of thin branches. To visually increase the depth of such imitation to the “laid” forty centimeters, you can lay out a niche with a mirror cloth or tile.
The third group does not involve building a niche for a false fireplace in the interior of the living room or any other room where you decided to create it. Mark the fireplace on the wall by simply drawing it. Does everyone remember the painted hearth in Papa Carlo's closet?
You can do and smarter. Put a “frame” of aged boards on the wall, decorate it with antique candebals on both sides, in which you place figured candles, and in the center of the composition will find a vase with a bouquet of fresh flowers or dried flowers. If on the wall behind this “frame” hang a beautiful mirror in an elegant frame, the impression will be complete.
Decor
The decor for false-fireplaces in the interior can be varied and changed for holidays or memorable dates, but in general it should be in harmony with the style and colors of the decor of the room where you made it.
For example, the new year can be noted with accessories of red, white, green, yellow and white colors. Wreaths of pine feet, fir cones, beautiful Christmas tree toys - all this is suitable for decoration. Burning candles will serve as a wonderful addition to the New Year mood.
You can entwine a fireplace portal with an electric Christmas tree garland or tinsel - the main thing is not to overdo it with decorations.
False fireplaces can be purchased in stores, and you can do it yourself - it all depends on your needs. In any case, such an addition to the interior will make the house cozier and warmer.
